Mixed Post-Pandemic Outlook – Uncertainty still looms

After the hard-fought battle against the Covid-19 Pandemic, the world is looking forward to a robust economic recovery from the ravages of Covid-19. While the outlook for the bigger economies seems to be better, the per capita GDP among many emerging markets and developing economies is anticipated to remain below pre-COVID-19 peaks for an extended period. As for the low-income economies, the outlook is not going to be rosy, as they will have a longer road for recovery. It is predicted that they may take up to a decade to regain their pre-pandemic levels. For now, one of the biggest concerns faced by the world, is the challenge of obtaining equitable supplies of the vaccine, grappling with food shortages and high inflationary rates along with financial difficulties of varying degrees. However, it is heartening to see the remarkable fighting spirit of humanity to overcome this virulence.
